Hit the Arcade
Featured in many articles as one of the top arcades to visit in the US, Arcade Odyssey will appeal to old and new school gamers alike. With a mix of retro games, a wide collection of pinball machines, and even some of the newer Japanese games, Arcade Odyssey offers something for everyone. Their snack bar also offers a variety of Japanese treats so you can game for hours and never be hungry!
Check out the Coral Castle Museum
“You will be seeing unusual accomplishment,” says the stone sign as you enter the grounds of the Coral Castle Museum. Built from 1923-1951, using coral harvested from his own property, Latvian immigrant Ed Leeskalnin built arguably one of the most unique structures you will ever see; a large coral castle, and nobody has any idea exactly how he did it. The story behind the structure is unique enough, but as you learn the story behind the man responsible, this attraction becomes even more interesting.
Play Dominoes in Little Havana
Little Havana is a great stop on your Miami adventure. With a large, vibrant Cuban community, you can experience everything here from traditional Cuban food to traditional dance, music, and art. Take a stroll down Calle Ocho, or walk the neighborhood, and you’ll feel like you’re in Cuba. If you really want to get in on the action, head to Maximo Gomez Park and play competitive dominoes with the locals.
Explore Everglades National Park
One of the most protected areas of wildlife anywhere in the world, the Everglades National Park is home to a number of endangered species, as well as some of the most beautiful flora and fauna around the world. A trip to Miami would not be complete without a visit to this nature preserve. There are campgrounds, waterways for kayaking and canoeing, and plenty of tours led through the reserve. Also, a few companies offer airboat rides within the Everglades, with the hopes of giving you a close-up view of your surroundings.
Relax on the Beach
With over 35 miles of beachfront, there are plenty of spots to park your beach towel. In addition to beaches, there are parks for picnics, swimming areas, shops, restaurants, and plenty more. You can find privacy on the island of Miami Beach, or enjoy the even more reserved Key Biscayne. Whether you stay on the mainland or go to one of the two islands, relaxing on Miami’s beaches is the thing you need before heading back to work.
With the overlapping of the many different cultures and the wide variety of experiences you can have, Miami has been reinvigorated as both a business and tourist destination. If you have the chance to spend a few extra days down there, we highly suggest you grab it. Plus, remember to use SPENT to earn cash back on hotels, restaurants, and shopping while you’re there.
